Feds Rebrand Update
This article has been updated from the original release date of Friday, June 7, 2019.
Our student association, the Federation of Students, is undergoing a rebrand!
We have been serving, empowering, and representing you, our undergraduate members, for over 50 years. While that won’t change, our name will - we are excited to announce our new name: the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association, or WUSA!
There was a lot of ambiguity with the name Federation of Students, and while it reflected the time when we were formed, that connection is no longer obvious. Our name should clearly reflect what we are and who we serve, two challenges we often have to overcome with the Feds brand. We consulted with students with some new name options, and WUSA was born!
This rebrand is about more than just a visual change: the goal is to better reflect what you want to see from us through a brand that connects with students in a more meaningful way. We are also taking this as an opportunity to align our brand with a long term vision for the organization that puts students front and center in decision-making.
The rebrand will be ready for a full launch in the fall, but in the meantime we’re doing a soft launch over the spring term. We will start using our new brand with incoming first-year students over the summer in our Orientation communications, while the visual elements, including the logo, will launch at the end of July in preparation for September.
Next up will be our logo reveal! We've been conducting focus groups with students and we've got some great options in the works. Make sure to follow us on Facebook [external link] and Instagram [external link] to stay updated!
